Join WOW for a day long workshop with Andrew Willis from FRONTSIDE at FRONTSIDE GARDENS to learn about working with reclaimed materials and help build Frontside skatepark. A short introduction by Andrew will be followed by a hands on workshop helping to set up and extend FRONTSIDE GARDENS.
Friday 26th of October from 10AM to 5PM at Frontside Gardens
FRONTSIDE GARDENS was chosen by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and Tower Hamlets Borough Council as the winners of a competition to make use of a temporary site in Hackney Wick. By reactivating an unused space, using reclaimed and waste materials, Frontside Gardens is creating a skatepark which will also be useable as a community area and events space. The plan is to have the park open as much as possible partially governed by local volunteers. There is currently no funding for the project. Frontside relies on inventively pooling resources to establish and run the space over the coming month. Andrew Willis is a passionate skater and maker with a rich experience in building using recycled and reclaimed materials. Everyone is welcome, no previous knowledge of building is needed.
