As part of the "Can you show me the space" programme
public works would like to invite you to an
evening of presentations and discussion
on Wed 6th February 2008
6 pm - 7.30 pm
at Stanley Picker Gallery, Kingston
Dispersed Cultural Spaces and Research
together with
Elizabeth Price, Artist and Reader in Fine Art at Kingston University
Markus Miessen, Architect, European Kunsthalle
Lise Autogena, Artist, Christiania Researchers in Residence Initiative
Matthew Cornford, Professor of Fine Art, University of Wolverhampton
Cultural Production and research activities aren't confined by singular physical spaces,
but take place across different social and professional networks, locations and times.
The different projects and initiatives presented on the evening will explore forms that
facilitate and nurture dispersed cultural activities, often embedded in complex
organisational structures.
Research Centres are currently mushrooming within institutional settings across the UK,
and the discussion will question the conventions of organising and disseminating research
in regards to its often informal and uncategorised modes of production and existence.
